More than 350 years ago, the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, erected the majestic Taj Mahal as a mausoleum for his beloved wife, Mumtaz. Often cited as a wonder of the world, the Taj Mahal is the epitome of love and a classic symbol of ancient Indian culture admired by people the world over.

Inspired by the tradition and story of the Taj Mahal, in 1984 Jagdish L. Kumar established the Taj Mahal Restaurant in Columbus to bring a touch of his love for Indian food and culture to the city’s patrons.

As the first Indian restaurant in Columbus, the Kumar family has been offering patrons a truly authentic Indian dining experience with an extensive menu of tantalizing dishes for 25 years. Housed in a converted mansion circa 1920 and ideally located in the OSU Campus district, our elegant dining rooms provide the perfect backdrop for an intimate dinner for two or for large group dining. Taj Mahal also boasts the largest outdoor patio in Columbus – a perfect way to enjoy a sumptuous, savoury meal on a warm summer evening.
